چکیده
Dried unripe raspberries (Rubus chingii), a kind of Chinese herbal medicine, have been used for many years in China. They were prepared as unpurified raspberry extract (URE) by ethanol extraction, and purified (PRE) macroporous resin. Synergistic effects between the URE (or PRE) ampicillin, erythromycin, tetracycline or streptomycin against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus Salmonella enterica carried out using checkerboard microdilution time-kill curves, respectively. The results showed that all pairwise combinations revealed synergistic effects, with 0.10 ? fractional inhibitory concentration index 0.50 more than 2 × log10 reduction colony-forming units/mL. In particular, erythromycin was reduced to 1/50-1/100 its dose alone while retaining effectiveness S. E. coli. extracts four antibiotics three bacteria related abundance polyphenols extracts, especially ellagic acid. may be dietary supplement and/or natural antimicrobials.

Synergistic interaction of Helichrysum pedunculatum leaf extracts with antibiotics against wound infection associated bacteria.
The effect of combinations of the crude methanolic extract of the leaves of Helichrysum pedunculatum and eight first-line antibiotics were investigated by time kill assays against a panel of bacterial strains that have been implicated in wound infections. The plant extract showed appreciable antibacterial activities against the test bacteria with zones of inhibition ranging between 18 and 27 mm...

The 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging activity of the fruits of Rubus chingii was studied in vitro. Ethanolic extract, ethyl acetate and n-butanol fractions from dried R. chingii fruits revealed strong DPPH free radical scavenging activity with IC(50) values of 17.9, 3.4 and 4.0 μg/mL, respectively. The ethyl acetate and n-butanol fractions were further purified by a ...
متن کاملAntiviral Effects of Black Raspberry (Rubus coreanus) Seed and Its Gallic Acid against Influenza Virus Infection
Influenza is a serious public health concern worldwide, as it causes significant morbidity and mortality. The emergence of drug-resistant viral strains requires new approaches for the treatment of influenza. In this study, Rubus coreanus seed (RCS) that is left over from the production of wine or juice was found to show antiviral activities against influenza type A and B viruses. Using the time...
متن کاملSynergistic effect of clinically used antibiotics and peptide antibiotics against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria
Ribosomally synthesized (natural) peptides demonstrate antimicrobial potency and may represent a novel therapeutic approach for the treatment of infections. The aim of the present study was to investigate the interaction between polycationic peptides and clinically used antimicrobial agents in the treatment of clinical isolates of Gram-positive and Gram-negative aerobic bacteria in vitro, using...
متن کاملSynergistic effects of antimicrobial peptide DP7 combined with antibiotics against multidrug-resistant bacteria
Antibiotic-resistant bacteria present a great threat to public health. In this study, the synergistic effects of antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) and antibiotics on several multidrug-resistant bacterial strains were studied, and their synergistic effects on azithromycin (AZT)-resistance genes were analyzed to determine the relationships between antimicrobial resistance and these synergistic effect...
